A woman has died after a suspected ‘gas explosion’ tore through a flat in north-west London. A man, woman, and a baby were rescued from the first floor of the property in Harrow after the blast set the night skies of London alight.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said it was called to the property on Fulbeck Way shortly before 1am.
A spokesperson said: “The first floor partially collapsed due to the force of the explosion. Sadly, one woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Ten fire engines and over 70 firefighters have been fighting the fire, while witnesses reported seeing many ambulances and police cars.
A spokesperson for the Fire Brigade added: “The first floor is currently alight and has partially collapsed. The cause of the explosion is not known at this time but a gas explosion is suspected.”
A man, woman, and a baby were rescued from the first floor of the property by firefighters using breathing equipment and an aerial platform. They were assessed at the scene before being taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Around 40 people have been evacuated from nearby properties as a precaution.
