CONVOY OF BIKERS AND OTHER VEHICLES TO ‘RIDE FOR FREEDOM’ AROUND NEW ULEZ EXTENSION IN PROTEST
This Sunday 20th August, mostly motorcycle riders across both London and nationwide are to descend upon the North/South Circular, where the current Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) border operates, and M25 service stations for a moving protest around Greater London. The protest has been named ‘Ride For Freedom’. The ULEZ, created by former Conservative Mayor of London Boris Johnson, now championed by Labour’s Sadiq Khan, with authorisation from previous Conservative Transport Minister Grant Shapps, is set to expand on the 29th August.
One of the organisers of Ride For Freedom; Phil Elliot of protest group ‘UK Unites’ stated:
“Motorbikes are part of the solution not the problem. Two wheels, an engine and the ability to move easily around should be promoted not penalised. For many, motorbikes are a passion, a lifestyle or a necessity that have been proven to reduce congestion and pollution.
The ULEZ is an unnecessary cash grab hitting the poorest in a cost of living crisis and must be scrapped.”

Joining the bikers will also be other vehicles which have often been seen on various ‘Stop ULEZ’ protests across London, one protest of which will be in Orpington the day before Ride for Freedom.
The main meeting point in the morning of Ride For Freedom will be the famous Ace Cafe from 10am on the North Circular near Wembley, then departing at 11:15am. Other meeting places will also be at South Mimms Services (11am departure), Heston Services (11am departure), Clackett Lane Services (11:30am departure), Thurrock Services (11:30am departure) and Cobham Services (12noon departure). Many will make destination to a rally at Rykas cafe in Boxhill, Surrey at 12:30pm where there are set to be speakers.
