Police have launched a murder investigation after a shooting in south London.
Officers were called to Bedford Hill in Balham at around 10.50pm last night to reports someone was suffering from gunshot injuries.
The Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and a man in his 20s was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics he was pronounced dead at 11.36pm.
His next of kin have been informed and a post-mortem examination is set to take place in due course.
Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing and there have been no arrests as of yet as police continue to hunt for the perpetrator(s).
A large road cordon has been put in place and a crime scene has been established outside a property, police dogs have also been on the scene to aid with the investigation.
Buses were diverted last night due to the road being blocked.
