UNN’s Oliver Down has received a tip-off regarding the MP for Leicester East replacing Claudia Webbe. The tip-off alleges that Ms Webbe, on top of her role as an MP, has yet to resign from her post as a councillor at Islington Council. The two roles are located over 100 miles apart. Ms Webbe will be paid £10,000 annually for her councillor duties. On top of her £82,000 a year salary as an MP.
According to the Islington Council website, Ms Webbe was in attendance at the last full council meeting on the 27th of February. Currently, Ms Webbe does not have an office in Leicester listed on the Parliamentary website. This has led to outrage by one Twitter user @RhysBrown00 who said “she still has not set up a Leicester based office and I cannot find any surgery details. At the time of a national crisis Leicester needs their MP, where is she? #leicester”.
UNN’S Oliver Down has attempted to contact Claudia Webbe to discuss these matters and has asked her the following questions.
“In this time of current crisis, how are you undertaking two roles of public responsibility around 100 miles apart?”
“It has not been possible to locate a Leicester based office for you. Are you working as Leicester’s MP from Islington?”
Claudia Webbe has yet to respond to these questions. Should UNN’s Oliver Down receive a response, then UNN’s readers will be the first to know.
