The Brexit Party leader has thrown his two pennies into the argument after the Home Secretary has come under fire for alleged bullying in her department by one of the top officials.
Mr Farage began his argument by asserting the point that Mrs Patel is ultimately in charge of the Home Office and what she says goes, however, he recognised for years the Home Office civil servants seem to have been running the show in that department.
He argued that in past governments, civil servants have had an easier time of things because their boss, the Home Secretary could be replaced at any moment. Although now the Conservative party now has such a mandate from the British people minister will not be so easily replaced.
Nigel compared the Home Secretary’s strategy of work to that of Baroness Thatcher and how she got a tight grip on the civil service and ruled it with an iron fist.
Speaking on the matter on his LBC show, Mr Farage backed Priti Patel saying: “Who’s the master, who’s the servant?
“Mrs Thatcher had a pretty robust relationship with the civil service in her time and yet as she said minister decide, and it looks like Priti Patel is a pretty forceful Home Secretary.
“Let’s just remember for years and years and years, this is a Home Office that has been described as ‘not fit for purpose’ problem after problem after problem, wind rush, many, many other things that we could talk about and I tell you what if we got a Home Secretary who’s in there and if actually kicking backsides and making sure things actually get done in government policy.
“Something upon on which they have been given a big majority by you, the British public and if she’s making sure that is getting implements if she upsets one or two senior mandarins well, I personally couldn’t care less.”
