In 2015 as part of the 2015 Iran deal, the former President Barack Obama granted amnesty to the recently assassinated Qassem Soleimani. The Obama administration hailed the deal “historic” and as part of this, it removed Soleimani from a list of Iranian outlaws, along with other leaders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. One of the only MSM journalists to highlight this was Con Coughlin the defence editor at the Telegraph. In 2015 Mr Coughlin stated declared that Soleimani “fully deserves his reputation as one of the world’s leading terrorist masterminds”.
Mr Soleimani had for over a decade, been a leading figure behind an array of Iranian-sponsored terrorist groups including Hezbollah and Hamas. These groups have which have orchestrated a reign of terror throughout the Middle East. Contained in Obama’s 2015 deal on page 86 Soleimani was granted amnesty and was taken off the list of proscribed Iranians – together with a number of senior members of the Islamic Republic’s Revolutionary Guards.

In addition to giving in to the Iranian regime with the agreement granted in 2015, Obama continued to help it, trying to gain access to the United States financial system, thus circumventing the continuing sanctions on the country. In addition to this UNN’s Oliver Down has obtained a report dated June 7, 2018, by the chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations Senator Rob Portman which read “Obama administration secretly granted a specific license authorizing the conversion of Iranian assets worth billions of U.S. dollars using the U.S. financial system.” Some may feel that these acts do not look positive for the former President.
Following the response of Iran overnight the world wakes up in an ever-precarious state this morning. Many are discussing the sense or otherwise of the strike which killed Soleimani. However, US tensions with Iran have run for some time including but not exclusive to the time that Obama was in office. The MSM may be wise to remember this as currently there is a large amount of fake news in circulation.
