Official complaint to the BBC over ‘correspondent’s’ use of FAKE SOCIAL MEDIA PROFILES!

To whom it may concern,
Marianna Spring is the ‘BBC’s Disinformation & Social Media Correspondent’.
Today she has announced the launch of ‘BBC Verify’ and during this segment she made a stunning admission that she utilises fake social media profiles.
We consider that this would be a form of social media entrapment and also downright lying which goes against your Royal Charter and journalistic code of conduct.
These ‘fake profiles’ are not being used to ensnare politicians or individuals in the public eye but rather everyday people who hold views on a wide variety of subjects in attempts to entrap them.
Surely from this goes against the BBC Charter where it clearly states:

“The BBC must observe high standards of openness and seek to maximise transparency and accountability.”

We refer you to the following sections of the BBC Editorial Guidelines where we believe clear breaches have been made:
3.3.12 Care needs to be taken to distinguish fact from rumour, particularly – but by no means exclusively – on social media where misinformation may be deliberate and where error or rumour can spread around the world in minutes, while corrections find it harder to gain traction.
3.3.16 We must not knowingly and materially mislead our audiences with our content.

Ms Spring is deliberately presenting misinformation by pretending to be someone she is not and she is knowingly and materially misleading her audience with these fake profiles.
The BBC must take action against this completely unethical and inappropriate journalism by Ms. Spring.
