Omicron and the moronic updates to school Covid-19 protocol

In response to the immaculately timed washing up of Omicron on our shores (the PM’s inaugural statement on the variant coming precisely four weeks before Christmas Day) the Department for Education, in collaboration with the DHSC and the UKHSA, have updated their ‘Schools Covid-19 Operational Guidance’; moronically and hypocritically, or to put it more succinctly omicronically stating on page 5 of the document that ‘Covid-19 continues to be a virus that we learn to live with and the imperative to reduce the disruption to children and young people’s education remains.’

The DfE immediately rubbish what millions of parents already know to be this vacuous ethos of theirs by revealing that post-contact-tracing self isolation and PCR testing has returned for any child suspected to have been exposed to the Omicron variant only (a rule applicable also to early years settings) and one wonders just how Government intend to uphold their pledge to eradicate educational disruption should Omicron spread rapidly and perhaps even become the temporary dominant strain.

If this should happen then yet again thousands upon thousands of children shall face another entire winter, and perhaps even spring, of repeated stints at home in isolation, parents then also having necessarily to take time off work.

Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty, the man who green-lit the vaccination of children in defence of their schooling, would then be forced to eat his words, as even those scores of children vaccinated with his anti-truancy Covid-Calpol are not be permitted to bypass the updated Omnicom Test and Trace protocol.

I suspect he would do no such thing as swallow down his own hypocrisy, but instead use the convenient cover of Omicron to regurgitate his blessing to the jabbing of the next cohort down – five to eleven-year-olds – doubtless using the same corrupt medical ethics applied to their older siblings as the necessary vaccine delivery system.

Face masks, as we already know, have also returned for all poor souls in year seven and above, to be worn in all areas outside of the classroom, for the moment at least. True to form in Interventionist Circus Britain, the Education Secretary himself, Nadhim Zahawi, was spotted at the annual Teaching Awards on the very evening of this reintroduced identity-control-measure not only sans mask, but amidst a sea of mask-less faces. One rule for the Ringmasters, quite another for the whipping boys and girls currently keeping the unforgiveable Circus in town; whose latest spectacle Omicron is already recouping expenses with the meagre pocket-money of adolescent dignity.

Just how is it that Zahawi, having ‘fled’ his native country to escape Saddam Hussein’s tyrannical rule managed to then incredulously install himself as a tyrant in the British Government – a position from where he now, and with staggering ingratitude, openly mocks the citizens of his adopted country by his astonishing refusal to show solidarity with the children and teachers the victims of the suffocating controls he endorses in the name of supposed national security; a subject which in theory should be dear to his refugee heart?

There is also a slight discrepancy in the updated school guidance which exemplifies the new trend among Government departments to cherry-pick or redact scientific data at will to help sustain the public health emergency narrative.

At the time of Chris Whitty’s overruling of the JCVI vis-a-vis the vaccination of 12 to 15-year-olds, Public Health England’s guidebook for vaccines and vaccination, the Green Book, nevertheless clearly identified that ‘Children under 16 years of age, even if they are CEV [clinically extremely vulnerable], are at low risk of serious morbidity and mortality, and, given the absence of safety and efficacy data on the vaccine, are not recommended for vaccination.’

Doubtless in order to help quell any opposition to the rollout, that statement was removed in the next Green Book update, yet it pops back up again on page 14 of the Schools Covid-19 Operational Guidance, minus any mention of vaccination but with the addition of: ‘The UK Clinical Review Panel has recommended that no children and young people under the age of 18 should be considered CEV and under-18s should be removed from the Shielded Patient List.’

Adhering to Government logic, if Omicron is enough of a public health threat to warrant the reintroduction of national-scale hypochondriacal controls, then taking into account vaccine inefficacy, the Sate’s refusal to acknowledge that children are not key drivers of transmission, and what little they say they know about the new variant, surely these youngsters should be placed back on the Shielded Patient List and not hung out to dry in the purportedly risky no man’s land of potential vaccine-escapee Omicron? Or was an entire 20 months of shielding the vulnerable merely a training exercise in obedience to prep us for the future engineered privations of the post-Covid International Order?

This just goes to show how the State, via a little light editing, can now reclassify with impunity the health status of an entire demographic to achieve its political aims (health passports anyone?): in the first instance of the Green Book a cut to help get needles into arms, in the second instance of the schools guidance a paste to protect both the trumped-up reputation of a mostly ineffectual vaccine, and the equally spurious way in which it is said to protect the education of even those children previously considered clinically extremely vulnerable, ‘wall of defence’ that it is marketed to be.

20 months into this shamdemic and still very little makes sense. Prime Minister, could you please clarify a few things for us: in light of what you delight in proclaiming to be a highly successful vaccine rollout thus far (in terms of uptake at least) do clinically extremely vulnerable people, as they relate to Covid-19, still exist? If so, are we to shield them again in the event of Omicron’s rapid spread, or do they hop on and off the ‘List’ to suit your manufactured climate of public opinion?

If indeed we are to shield them, then should there be a repeat of last winter’s pan-ping-case-demic debacle, will vulnerable under-18s be put back on the ‘List’, or have they been permanently reclassified even despite the vaccine’s inability to block transmission or infection? Or are the Department for Education, the DHSC, the UKHSA, the MHRA – Pfizer, Tesco, John down the pub, the NHS, and St. Bigglesworth Community College – all permitted a different stance on the small matter of juvenile clinical vulnerability during this most lethal public health crisis of all time of yours?

Children already have enough on their plate as it is Prime Minister, attempting to navigate the lunatic culture of 21st century Britain. That you must also cruelly subject them once again to the moronic whims and fancies of your public health lackeys in Westminster, so as to garner the respect of pandemic gang leaders far higher up the chain of command than yourself, is testament to your cowardice not your leadership, and likely symbolic of the hurt child lurking deep within you.
