Recently online I saw an old Passat estate car advertised for sale, it had 350,000 miles on it and it still had 11 months MOT and 4 good tyres, not bad for £400.
Don’t worry, this isn’t Wheeler Dealers, it’s an example that I hope to use to support a few theories that I’ve had for some time about the future of the car industry. Some might say these theories are outlandish and probably more suited to being on InfoWars but I hope I can convince you otherwise.
‘Dieselgate’ as it became known was a disaster for Volkswagen, they were found to have implemented software that detected when a vehicle was being subjected to an MPG test and then put the injection system into a special mode which made its emissions profile much better than actual road conditions.
What you might not know is that most car manufacturers were doing exactly the same, not only this but they also used a variety of sneaky tricks to improve the MPG figures. They would run the cars without a battery and with a cupful of formula 1 oil instead of a full sump to save weight during 0-60 tests together with a plethora of other wheezes and shortcuts to beat the competition.
The outcome of all these events is a hostile environment for diesel cars, governments are cracking down on them and the green lobby have managed to convince legislators that they should be banned altogether in the near future.
I don’t propose to embark on a long discussion of the relative merits of diesel or petrol cars but what I do want to examine is the elephant in the room – the fact that we are all being propagandised into wanting electric vehicles when the technology is not yet sufficiently developed and neither is the infrastructure to charge them.
I don’t have to remind anyone about the incessant climate alarmism that is blaring from every angle of the mainstream media at the moment, oddly when people like Greta Thunberg are asked to come up with solid facts and data to back up their rantings they become very shy indeed. So, to counter the climate alarmist’s lack of analysis let’s do some of our own. What follows gets a tad technical and there is some maths but please bear with me.
There are 32.5 million passenger cars currently registered in the UK. Let’s imagine that on average each car is only used for 10% of the time – i.e 2.4 hours per day. Let’s also imagine that the average engine power is 100bhp and that on average only 50% of that output is being used at any one time.
So, 50bhp equates to 37.285 Kilowatts. 2.4 hours per day gives us roughly 90kilowatt hours per car. Then multiply that by the 32.5 million cars and you get 2925 million kilowatt-hours produced by all the car engines each day.
The national grid is simply not designed and not capable of adding 3 gigawatts to run private transport. This calculation also ignores all the trucks and buses which will add another significant amount.
Perhaps now we can understand why we are seeing people being ‘shamed’ when they use fossil fuel-powered transport – the future looks like a world where private travel will be severely curtailed and what more effective way to control that behaviour by using a system of social peer pressure and taxation in a vice-like grip on your personal freedom to travel where you wish.
If you examine Tesla’s business model you’ll see that you can be ‘frozen out’ of your vehicle at the touch of a button. Modern electric vehicles have internet connectivity built into them, these cars report where they are, how fast they are going and Tesla’s supercharger grid will only give you electricity if everything is in order with your account.
Despite all these issues, the internet is full of people saying how wonderful electric vehicles are even after well-documented horror stories about safety and quality problems with them. Why would someone want a vehicle that can be switched off remotely that you can only drive 200 miles before you have to stop and recharge for several hours?
Electric vehicles are being forced upon us because the diesel they want us to reject are too reliable, too efficient, last too long and give us too much freedom. The only thing that electric vehicles do deliver well is control, control by the elites on where and when you travel.
How attractive does that old Passat look now?
Don’t fall for the electric vehicle myth. There are a lot of environmental issues to be dealt with but CO2 is by far not the biggest problem facing the environment, however you can bet your last penny that it will be used by the elites to introduce a massive new layer of taxation and control upon your life. Resist.
