Nobody likes a bully.

We all know the common story of the schoolyard bully, the one who took your dinner money because you feared their fists or their verbal taunts.  This story has played out in thousands of instances up and down the country through countless years. We all get told various platitudes that the bullies are just scared deep down and are flawed people with no emotional depth. 

We took solace in these words from our mothers or teachers but the concept of the bully has been weaponised and is now being used against the productive and the industrious and worst of all the bullying has been obfuscated and called social justice.

This might seem like a terrible accusation but I believe that the recent general election result has revealed a great deal about the tactics and the objectives of the left and reveals the deeper psychological motivation behind their activities and how their plans are evolving.

If all this is starting to sound like some kind of paranoid rant then let me add some context and re-frame the question slightly to emphasise my point. What if socialism was just a methodology that enabled a small circle of elites to extract wealth from those who work hard? There is a lot of evidence to support this view. 

First, in every state where full-on socialism has been enacted living standards for the workers have not improved. Queues in the snow for bread in soviet Russia, people starving to death in Cambodia and societal breakdown in Venezuela, I could cite more examples but I think the point is made.

Second, in each case those in the upper parts of the hierarchy have enjoyed status, wealth and immunity from accountability for failure whilst their people starve or slave for poverty wages.

One has to question the motives of such regimes when their stated objectives contrast so starkly with the outcomes they deliver for the people they were supposed to be rescuing from oppression.  What if the Marxists were merely relying on the desperation of the oppressed or low paid to achieve other goals, to usurp the established order and replace whatever system existed with their own?

Again, this assertion requires some evidence, and there is plenty. Look at the ‘desertion’ of the working classes in the north by Labour which lead to the recent success in the election of the Conservative party. Many have questioned why Labour would tailor their policies toward a variety of minorities, pressure groups and theocracies and ignore their traditional voter base.  I think the answer is simple and worrying.

My belief is that the demographic that Labour used to treat as being ‘theirs’ has woken up and smelt the coffee, they distrust people who tell them that profit is wrong when many are tradesmen or small businessmen, working hard in a tough environment to earn a living. Profit is not wrong, profit is what puts food on the table of these people and heats their homes. 

Modern health and safety law, employment law and anti-discrimination legislation has stolen large chunks of Labour’s previous thunder and written it onto the statute books. Children no longer lose limbs in spinning jennies or toil in the mines. People are no longer sacked on a whim or due to prejudice. People injured during the course of their work are compensated and the employer held to account. So it seems working people are no longer the victims and instead just want to get on with working so they can pay bills, buy a house and generally get on with their lives.

Now we can start to see through the left’s ruse. They are relying on making promises to people who are oppressed, or more likely in the current climate who can be convinced that they are being oppressed. Historically Labour found popularity in the industrialised north where poverty, health and safety and worker rights were a big issue, with those issues now solved the left can no longer convince this group they are the victims.

If you look hard at the groups that Labour and the left are increasingly finding their votes coming from it is clear that these are the same groups that claim to be victims of discrimination. What better way to ensure a reliable and loyal voter base than to address groups and convince them the current system is racist, transphobic, homophobic, sexist or in climate denial  and that the left has answers to each and every one or their issues. 

The problem the left has now is that their strategy of emphasising social injustice and encouraging people to differentiate themselves from ‘normal’ society with ever-increasingly complex and divergent categorisations has not produced a cohesive group willing to support each other. In the 1970’s miners picketed other industries and gained support from other workers enabling them to push their agenda to the heart of the government and win major concessions. 

Currently, we have the left as an umbrella for a plethora of disparate groups but these groups don’t agree, they have massive ideological chasms between them and instead of representing a broad sector of public opinion they all seem to want their own specific minority to be the one that is most oppressed and therefore most in need of rescue from whatever dark forces the leadership can conjure up from the shadows this week.

The Marxist left it seems has for its entire history been busy trying to seize the levers of power by promising utopia to groups who were most in need. Now they have cynically changed their approach. The Marxist left now wants to manufacture victims on an industrial scale even when that victimhood is poorly defined or doesn’t exist at all. A manufactured victim is a dangerous entity – their ‘status’ depends on convincing themselves and everyone else that they are special and for reasons that can never be challenged or inspected in detail. They will do or say pretty much anything to ensure you don’t examine their victim status with any objective criticism.  Worse still they actively seek to close down debate by labelling anyone who challenges their methods as evil, they will attempt to smear, defame and vilify anyone who calls out their techniques and have no compunction about ruining people’s livelihoods in order to pursue their agenda.  

In other, simpler terminology these people are bullies, and bullies never prosper.
