A clip has been shared on social media showing the statue of Sir Winston Churchill in Parliament Square has been vandalised despite a large police presence on the ground monitoring Black Life Matter protests.
The attack on the statue would have hurt most Brits anytime, however, given today is the 76th Anniversary of D-Day it makes the vandalism all the more sickening.
During the video that is now going viral, Police Liaison Officers are shown insisting that they didn’t see who did it as a member of the public asks them if he will need to get the “football lads” to defend the statue if they won’t.
Officers insisted that they would protect the statue and a huge police presence has been stopped at the Cenotaph after some ‘protesters’ desecrated the war memorial at the last Black Lives Matter protest in London.

Westmonster’s Michael Heaver wrote on Twitter saying: “Churchill Memorial already vandalised on the anniversary of D-Day. Disgusting vandalism again.”
Actor Laurence Fox has also commented: “Dear the mob. You see those two things vanishing off into the distance at great speed? They’re called solidarity and good will.”
Some members of the public did not take kindly to the police response, Derek Whitaker wrote on Twitter: “These officers should be ashamed, today is the anniversary of the D-Day landings when we all including the police should be respectful of our war dead.”
Another wrote: “I don’t care what people are protesting for, I don’t care what you think of Winston Churchill. I don’t care whether you are black, white, old, young, Christian, Muslim or whether you are a right-winger or left-winger. Vandalism is vandalism & there is simply NO NEED for it”.
