Cotroversial GMB broadcaster Piers Morgan has called for Donald Trump to take the knee amid the George Floyd protests. Morgan and Susanna Reid were joined by Martin Luther King III on today’s show where they praised the protests in response to Floyd’s death with little condemnation of the disgusting scenes of violence witnessed across the USA.
Morgan thundered:
“He’s completely incapable of doing what I’m about to suggest. Imagine if Donald Trump, rather than stirring the fire and pouring fuel on it, imagine if he came out the White House with those protestors and went down on one knee. Image the power of Donald Trump doing that and the impact that might have in one action. I genuinely believe he could make an enormous difference.”
Martin Luther III agreed, adding: ‘There is no question about that.’ The display of ‘taking the knee’ was first performed by Colin Kaepernick, who refused to stand during the national anthem to call attention to what he perceives as racial inequality and police brutality.
