Yellow Vests protests took place today once more across the United Kingdom as far afield as Newport in Wales. Once more the biggest was in London that according to reports passed off peacefully with the Yellow Vests at one point marching toward Buckingham Palace with a convoy of roaring motorcycles:

However the Yellow Vests demonstration in Leeds appears to have sadly turned violent with differing reports on the exact causes of this. Some have said it was in order to stop more trouble by not allowing counter demonstrators and the main demonstrators to meet that could have caused more violence while others have suggested the Police were too heavy handed.
According to The Yorkshire Evening Post:
Dozens of of people, including anti-fascist groups, had already gathered for counter demonstration in St Peter’s Square. The arriving protesters, many dressed in high-visibility jackets and waving Union Jack flags, began assembling at around noon. There was noisy chanting as the two groups faced each other on either side of busy passing traffic.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police are responding to an ongoing demonstration in Leeds city centre today. A number of arrests have been made.”
Meanwhile we spoke exclusively to activist and eyewitness on the day Tracey Turner who said:
Me and my friend got pushed by The Police and a lad said stop pushing women. The Police then jumped him and put him on the floor. About 7 people got arrested and pepper spray was being used. At the end we all got issued with dispersal orders.
I have been to London and dealt with the Police there but I have never experienced anything like this. At first it was all good natured then everything seemed to change. A friend and I were both pushed and it was total out of order.
Meanwhile many people were uploading pictures of themselves to social media using the #YellowVestsUK saying they were prepared to come out and make a stand. One of the issues raised on social media by many has been that as yet there appear to be a significant number of issues the UK Yellow Vests are protesting against which causes confusion but it is felt that moving forward the main issue will be the Brexit situation and what they perceive to be a betrayal of democracy.
