Police appeal for thief who stole two RBL Poppy Appeal tins

Police in Merseyside are appealing for information in an attempt to trace the man following the “despicable” theft of a Poppy collection tin as well as and other charity tins. The thief also stole food as he hit the store in Ainsdale . Merseyside Police have stated the thief stole two charity tins, one of which was for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, from the One Stop Shop on Liverpool Road at around 10.30 pm on Saturday, October 26. The police force has issued a CCTV still of a man they say may be able to help with their investigation and UNN urges anyone with any information to come forward at the earliest opportunity. 

Sergeant Jenni Bowman of Merseyside police has told Liverpool Echo: “Any type of stealing is unacceptable – but to take from a charity is absolutely despicable and I’m confident members of our community will be just as angry If anyone has any information which may help us to identify this individual please come forward. We will act on all information and bring those responsible to justice.”
