Two men have been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in London’s Sloane Square yesterday, the Metropolitan Police have said. In addition to this, the Government minister Greg Hands tweeted that a vehicle had “mounted the pavement and struck pedestrians” before being abandoned nearby.
The London Ambulance Service have stated that they called out at just after midday to respond to reports of a collision “involving pedestrians”. The London Ambulance service have released a statement that said: “We dispatched two ambulance crews and a medic in a car, with the first of our crews arriving in under four minutes. We treated two men at the scene and took them both to hospital”.
Charles Birch, who is an eyewitness said: “My dad was going to meet a friend for a coffee when he was hit. When I got to the scene my dad was already in an ambulance. He said he had pain in his chest and down his back. I asked him what happened, and he responded: ”a car hit me and lots of people. He was going very fast”.
Mr Birch also went on to say “What is happening in this country? The big concern is we are not in control of anything at the moment”.
Cordons were erected around the area of the scene whilst while the vehicle was searched by Police officers. A man has been arrested on suspicion of committing driving offences. The Met Police have stated that the incident was not terror-related.
