A jarring video published and widely shared across social media shows major violence as police use a heavy-handed approach to try and tackled anti-lockdown protests in the Netherlands.

Prime minister Mark Rutte’s government resigned due to the public outrage, however, his cabinet is to stay on in a caretaker capacity until a new coalition is formed after the vote.
“The government was not up to standard throughout this whole affair,” Rutte told a press conference. “Mistakes were made at every level of the state, with the result that terrible injustice was done to thousands of parents.”
On Sunday the 14th, the eve of the extraordinary three-day election, as thousands of protestors decided to descend on The Hague – they were met with mounted police units charging, police dogs, batons and water cannons, reporters from RT claimed the protest was peaceful until police tried to disperse the crowd.
A video that has been circulating on social media shows what appears to be an anti lockdown protester chased down by police and dog units and ultimate ends with him lying on the ground being pummelled by multiple law enforcement officers with batons while a police dog unit bites him as he lays on the ground trying to protest his head from the baton blows.

The video comes to an abrupt stop as mounted police units can be seen charging at the crowd in the midst of one lone male being attacked by multiple Dutch police officers.
In another video plain-clothed police officers can be seen attacking a woman during what was described as a peaceful protest, the video appears to show law enforcement officers running out of a police van with batons drawn – one officer can be seen running towards a woman who is then pushed over into another oncoming police van.

With most voters expected to cast their ballots on Wednesday in the Dutch election, these scenes will surely be a damming inditement of the current regime and only harm their handling of the lockdown situation even more – for a government already embroidered in total scandal, could this break the camels back, again?
