South Yorkshire Police have arrested a man in connection with sex assault on four-year-old girl, the offence is alleged to have happened in Doncaster in September 2016.
William Cauley, of Leeds, had gone missing following the assault and officers sent out an appeal to locate the 30-year-old this week.
Initially, police issued an appeal to hear from anyone who has seen or spoken to Cauley recently, or who knows where he may be staying.
Cauley aged 30 is thought to use several different names including William McNeilly and Billy Cauley. He is described as white, around 5ft 10ins tall and of a heavy build.
He had recently been living in Leeds but also had connections to South Yorkshire, Humberside, London, Hertfordshire, Northern Ireland and the Thames Valley area.
South Yorkshire Police later posted on Facebook that Cauley had been arrested and was in police custody.
A spokesperson confirmed that Cauley has now been charged with two counts of sexual assault of a girl under 13.
He appeared before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court this morning and was remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court next month.
