According to various sources, the 45th President of the United States of America Donald J Trump has told a group of his guests over dinner he plans to run for the US presidency in 2024.
Reports from the Rolling Stone magazine, Mr Trump is planning to run for the US presidency in 2024. However, the 45th President has not yet confirmed whether he will stand as the Republican nominee and seek a return to the Oval Office.
One former Republican National Committee official told Rolling Stone: “I have three friends who’ve had dinner with him in the last couple of months. All three reported that his current plans are to run for president in 2024. Now, whether he does or not is a different issue. We’ve still got three years to go. But he’s telling people that.”
The Rolling Stone report revolves around three dinners that took place in recent months.
“The ex-R.N.C. official says the first two dinners took place in late spring. But the third dinner happened in the last two weeks,” the report said.
“The first two dinner companions came away from their conversations convinced Trump was serious and he’s running, the official adds. The third said he left the dinner ‘not 100% sure Trump wants to run but he likes being in the conversation, he wants to freeze the field, and he wants his name out there,” the report added.
During a town hall, Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Trump about his plans for the 2024 election and the live audience roared with applause when he responded.
“We don’t have a lot of time, but let’s talk about your future plans,” Hannity began.
“Now…Let me ask the crowd of everybody here, would you like to see the president run again in 2024?” Hannity asked the crowd.
He was met with immediate cheers and applause from the audience.
Mr Hannity then asked Trump: “Let me ask you this without giving the answers, have you made up your mind?”
“Yes,” Mr Trump replied with a smile.
