A traveller in a hotel near Heathrow Airport in quarantine has reportedly gone on hunger strike and is appealing for legal aid as he is “held prisoner” at the Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel.
Anthony Pium, from East London, told MailOnline that he signed the Passenger Locator Form that is required to be completed for every arriving traveller with the words ‘under duress’ and has deliberately evaded payment for the hotel quarantine stay.
Mr Pium told reporters: “I did give them my bank account [details], and [they] have tried to take the £1,750 but it has been declined because that account only has £17 on it and that was my plan,
“I am so angry about all this.
“The only reason I filled in the form was that I could be allowed back into Britain.”
Mr Pium, who arrived in the United Kingdom from Brazil, he is hoping to get legal help to bring an end to his quarantine stay and has also started a hunger strike, he said: “I am on hunger strike – I won’t touch any of the food they give me. They have to let me out of here.”
Mr Pium filmed himself making a run for outside by running through the hotel lobby however he was stopped by multiple security guards.
He told reporters: “I hope somebody can get me out,
“I’m going to keep trying to get out of here which is my right. I have not consented to be quarantined in a hotel.”
