The Conservative London mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey has slammed Sadiq Khan for criticising Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the UK Government during the coronavirus pandemic while he himself is ‘doing nothing’ for Londoners.
Sadiq Khan has faced accusations for not doing enough to protect Londoners from the coronavirus with Mr Bailey criticising him for “playing politics”.
Mr Bailey went on to suggest Mr Khan isn’t giving workers the PPE they need to do their job despite calls to do so.
Speaking to talkRADIO, Mr Bailey said: “I’ve been asking for over three weeks now along with unions to provide these PPE masks for workers. He does not need permission, he certainly has enough of our money to do so.
“I’m astonished he’s decided to play politics and go after the Government when he himself with his own responsibility has done little or nothing.
“It’s resulting in the deaths of people who are providing transport services for us in London.
“I’m thinking he needs to put his own parts in order first.”

Host Dan Wootton asked: “The tubes are his responsibility, aren’t they?”
Mr Bailey continued: “As the Mayor of London, he is the Chair for Transport for London.
“He doesn’t have to ask for permission to provide PPE to not only the people working on the tubes but also asking the public to wear them.”
“The thing about this outbreak and the response to it is people are taking it seriously, he doesn’t need to order people to wear everything and if he provides equipment they will wear it.”
