The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has taken to social media to urge people to register for early voting to help the Labour Party beat the Conservatives at the next general election.
It looks as though Mr Khan has taken a leaf from the US playbook; he wrote on Twitter saying: “Early voters in the US helped defeat Donald Trump.
“Now you can help us beat Boris Johnson and the Tories.
“Downwards arrow Sign up for your early vote today – and get your friends and family to register too: https://votelondon.labour.org.uk”.

Many on social media took exception to the Mayor’s comments, one user named @kew5711 wrote: “He’s not even been voted into the post of mayor. LONDON needs a NEW mayor. WE MUST ENSURE NO POSTAL VOTES FOR UP AND COMING VOTES. THE CHEATS ARE ALREADY PLOTTING.”
Replying to Mr Khan @Margaretb2107 wrote: “No votes by post and picture ID that’s the only way for London to vote and take his name of the voting paper.”
Another Twitter user did not hold back in their thoughts, @NewWordOrder20 wrote: “Shut up. You are already doing your best to divide London like the Flag of United States is becoming. You have destroyed London & left it a place that decent people leave. Horrific crime & filth has turn the capital into a ghetto.”
Others questioned the tactics that Mr Khan was promoting to try and win the next General Election, @MoragHamilton12 wrote: “Sadeek. How dare you!? EVERYONE knows that count was a fraud. The American elections are nothing to do with British politics. You are encouraging people to use fraud to beat Boris! Remember the British majority voted for Boris and you Khan are a disgrace.
