A teenage girl was the victim of a sexual assault by three men as she walked home from school, the 15-year-old was attacked as she approached an alleyway in East Finchley, North London, police say.
Police are looking to speak to a man who helped the girl, as they believe he could have key information that could help them identify the attackers.
She turned down an alleyway off of The Causeway near East Finchley station to find three men smoking, on Wednesday October 7, at 5.30pm – One man followed the teen before grabbing her and pinning her against a wall.
Her ordeal ended when a man interrupted the attack and the three men fled from the scene.
The stranger walked the girl to East Finchley station before helping her on to a bus.
The suspects are described as three black males, aged in the mid-to-late teens and wearing black school trousers.
One is described of slim build, with black plaits in his hair, approx. 5ft 11inches tall and wearing a navy blue Nike coat.
Another is said to be of slim build, with black wavy hair, approx. 5ft 7inches tall and wearing a black Nike coat.
The third suspect is of chubby build, with dark curly hair, approx. 5ft 7inches tall and wearing a black Nike coat.
PC Mary Fenton of the North West Safeguarding Team said: “I would like to reassure the community that these types of incidents are extremely rare and my team and I are working on all lines of enquiry to identify those responsible.
”In this incident, thankfully a passer-by intervened, stopping the attack, and I would ask him to come forward and speak to police – he could hold crucial information that could assist us.”
