A serving Met officer has been charged with a number of offences.
Following an investigation by officers from the South East Command Unit, on Monday, 11 July PC Thomas Andrews was charged with:
- ABH
- Criminal Damage
- Three counts of intentional strangulation.
He was kept in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court that same day.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday, 8 August.
PC Andrews has been suspended from duty.
The charges follow an incident that happened around 01:00hrs on Saturday, 9 July in Brockley Rise, SE23.
Patrolling officers had been alerted by a member of the public to an incident.
Following information, officers spoke to a man and established that he was PC Andrews, an off duty police officer attached to the Central South Command Unit.
A woman at the location, who was known to the man, reported the she had been assaulted and her phone damaged.
He was arrested on suspicion of ABH and criminal damage and subsequently charged as above.
