Speech by Niall McCrae at Not Our War rally, 22nd April 2023
I was raised twenty miles downstream on the River Clyde from David Clews, who’s from Renfrew. Directly opposite my home in Gourock, where the river is two miles wide, was a US nuclear submarine base. This would have been a prime target iu the Cold War, but I didn’t go to school fearing the Russians. Now, however, hatred of Russia is rampant.
When the tanks rumbled into Ukraine a year ago, I instinctively knew that Western media coverage and politicians’ statements were at best misguided and at worst provocative disinformation. They never mentioned the conflict raging in the Donbas since 2014, or how the Kiev regime had broken the Minsk Accords and continued to harass and harm their own Russian-speaking citizens.
A week after the invasion I went on UNN and attributed the war to the climate change agenda. This would have seemed far-fetched. Of course, there is real fighting: fierce battles and thousands of young men dying, but in the broader context this is a territorial dispute. Russia has annexed four oblasts, adding to Crimea, and most residents are relieved after years of persecution by the Nazi-inspired Azov Battalion and other uniformed thugs.
So how does the climate relate to Ukraine? Tellingly, as revealed by journalist Seymour Hersh, the US administration ordered the destruction of the Nordstream pipeline from Russia to Germany. This was an act of international terrorism, and it was planned before the war started. And by the way, isn’t it funny that the Extinction Rebellion protestors down the road in Parliament Square say nothing about the tons of methane released by that bombing?
This week, left-wing Democrat Bernie Sanders, a US version of Jeremy Corbyn, said: ‘Putin is preventing us from coming together on climate change’.
Anyone with critical faculties can see that this is NATO proxy war against Russia, although it is hardly proxy. But as geopolitical expert Patrick Henningsen suggested, this is a globalist war against Russia.
Back in the 1990s, after the fall of Soviet communism, historian Frances Fukuyama preposterously declared ‘the end of history’. But what he really meant was the end of politics, replaced by a consensus of neocon and neoliberal globalisation.
Initially, a welcome mat was laid out for the new Russian leader Vladimir Putin, who was accredited as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, The West was enticing Russia to participate in the ‘rules-based international order’. But Putin saw the trap. American Deep Stater Zbigniew Brzezinski, author of the Grand Chessboard, envisaged the breaking of Russia into six smaller, more easily controlled states.
The Kremlin rebuffed EU pressure to sign the Kyoto Protocol. Chief economic advisor Alexander Illarianov said: –
‘There is no evidence confirming a positive linkage between the level of carbon dioxide and temperature changes. It is not that which influences the temperature on Earth but just the reverse: temperature fluctuations caused by other emissions influences the concentration of carbon dioxide’.
This was the last straw. From now on, Russia was an enemy of the globalists, blamed for the shocks of Trump and Brexit, and the Skripal poisoning farce in Salisbury. Like China, the Russians knew that the climate crisis is a scam. Putin was a major obstacle to the agenda, fuelling Europe with endless supplies of cheap gas.
Ecological extremism prevails in the UN, and Western governments are pursuing socioeconomically devastating policies. The aim is total control and curtailment of resources. How ironic that the USSR was ridiculed for Stalin’s appointment of Trofim Lysenko as leading scientist, a man who believed that crops could be taught socialism. The West is pushing pseudoscience and fearful propaganda for a big lie.
In 2008 a new right-of-centre magazine appeared on the stalls, and I took out a subscription. Standpoint railed against woke ideology and cancel culture, but it was increasingly a Russophobic publication, with diatribes by Nick Cohen and Anne Applebaum. Latterly it was edited by Ed Lucas, who was obsessed with Putin. In the June 2019 edition he wrote ‘Volodomyr may be Vladimir’s downfall’.
Zelensky had become president of Ukraine, defeating incumbent Petro Poroshenko in what Lucas described as ‘a stunning upset’. Was this the first rigged election after Trump? Lucas continued: –
‘We used to see Ukraine as a bastion against Kremlin imperialism. Now the price is much greater. Success for Ukraine would herald the longed-for dawn of democracy and freedom in Russia too.’
Lucas pushed the pretence of Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election, claiming that Moscow was ‘spraying conspiracy theories into the media space’. He urge the West to get its retaliation in first: attacking Russia before it attacks us. Some of these journalists are assets of the British security services, as exposed in the sinister Integrity Initiative.
Two decades ago a million people marched in London against the war in Iraq. A million Iraqis died in that Western intervention. Where are the marchers now? Boris Johnson is no less a butcher than Tony Blair. The aim is the same – a new world order led by Washington and the British aristocracy.
You don’t need to support either Ukraine or Russia in the military campaign. You just need to know the culprits.
Back in 2002 I stayed with a family in Tambov, on the eastern edge of Black Earth Country. Large queues snaked around the local government office. Visas had become a requirement for people visiting friends and family across the previously open and irrelevant border. A few years later Ukraine stopped issuing tourist visas to Russians visiting Kiev, a city steepe in the heritage of Holy Russia.
This was all encouraged by the EU and NATO. What if Texas went UDI, breaking away from the USA and having a leader installed by Russia? Perhaps the Kremlin could build some biolabs there, and sever the oil pipelines. Every mention of ‘American’ changed to ‘Texan’. That’s basically what the West is doing with Ukraine.
The actions of the EU and NATO are neither primarily political nor military. The motive is a technocracy, controlled by the West, and Russia must be weakened to enable this. Instead it is the ordinary people of Europe who are suffering, as Moscow has found new buyers for its gas. We must reject this globalist war. .
