A man was repeatedly slashed with a machete in a horrific attack earlier today.

Police say the victim suffered multiple wounds to his head and arms after he was set on at Enfield Town railway station in north London just after 3am.

He was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Two men, both aged 20, were arrested nearby and remain in police custody.

A British Transport Police spokesman said:

We are appealing for further information following an attack with a machete at Enfield Town station.

Officers were called to the area at 3.11am this morning (SUN).

A man suffered wounds to the head and arms. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening or life changing.

Two men, both 20-years-old, were arrested following a search of the area and remain in police custody.”

There appears to be a significant upsurge in machete attacks across the UK but in general they receive little or no attention. Terrorism has not been ruled out in this instance.
