In his Financial statement on 17th November, Jeremy Hunt, the new Chancellor, admitted that the rises in energy prices were the key factor in causing the current economic crisis
UK energy bills are £150 bn extra compared with this time last year.
He maintained that energy prices were the fault of Russia and sadly because there is no real “Opposition” in Parliament, this assertion was not challenged.
However, if the facts are examined, it is clear it is the UK government’s policies on the Ukraine/Russia conflict which have been the cause of this energy crisis, which in turn have affected every aspect of the UK economy.
The government is simply not telling the public the truth, and that is made more appalling by the fact that new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak promised that honesty and openness would be a hallmark of his new government. Jeremy Hunt said he was being honest about the challenges facing the UK economy, but he wasn’t.
The facts are these, most world countries are not sanctioning Russia, and they make up 87.5% of the world’s population. Several NATO and EU countries also continue to trade with Russia.
Even at the recent G20 summit there was little appetite to criticise Russia and that is because they know the Ukraine conflict is not as presented by “the west.”
It is not the UK and some other countries who are being refused energy and other trade with Russia; it is the UK and such countries making that decision themselves!
The costs to the UK economy are entirely self- inflicted by the government! They could change the situation immediately by ending their sanctions, becoming neutral and restoring proper trading relations. The fact that they put the interests of the UK behind those of the globalist vested interests in Ukraine is very shocking indeed.
Jeremy Hunt stated that a third of world countries were in recession, including the UK, but these are largely the ones who have been engaged in sanctions against Russia.
Many countries are in a much better economic position than the UK, and that is because they have put their own interests before that of being involved in a dubious conflict in Ukraine.
The UK government decided to intervene in this conflict when it started in February of this year. There was never any British interest at stake, and we were not obliged to by any treaty.
This expanded in April when Boris Johnson visited Ukraine and persuaded the President Zelensky government not to proceed with a peace deal with Russia by the provision of billions of arms and “aid.” This was all without any sanction of the UK Parliament.
Since then, the government involvement has increased, and thousands of Ukrainian troops have been trained in the UK and the sanctions against Russia have worsened.
The supply of arms and “aid” is now £10bn in under a year, an exorbitant amount of public money which appears to be going down a black hole of no accountability and transparency.
There have been opportunities to review these policies, firstly under the premiership of Liz Truss, and now under new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
However, both politicians failed to do so and continued with them, severely letting down the interests of the British public.
There is now a situation where Jeremy Hunt has announced energy support measures of £55bn which are to be paid for by tax rises and spending cuts, totalling that amount!
The government is therefore taking what it is giving, adversely affecting the whole population, who have become worse off.
All because the government refuses to end their self- defeating policies on Ukraine and Russia!
The government are helped by a globalist dominated mainstream media and the use of left- over covid powers to ensure there is no debate on these gravely mistaken policies.
The government did also admit that their covid pandemic policies had to be paid for too, but there was no debate at that time about their reckless expenditure of over £400bn on these.
The government has also decided to commit £11bn to climate change financing as well as not reducing the £11bn Foreign Aid budget.
It is exactly why the UK cannot afford to be involved with these policies on Ukraine and Russia as we simply cannot afford them.
Everything is affected by these policies, the economy, interest rates, inflation, unemployment, businesses failing, cost of living, of fuel of energy, local and government services, tax, and rates increases, the list is endless. It is all set to get worse as energy prices continue to rise and the government reduces its energy support levels from next April.
It is unforgivable to do nothing about this.
Already British supplied weaponry is causing civilian deaths and injuries in eastern Ukraine and the government has blood on its hands.
The government is considering increasing the Defence budget of £42.4bn, where the priority has now become defence of Zelensky’s Ukraine, rather than the defence of our realm.
There are already 130,000 Ukrainian refugees in the UK, costing over £1.5bn a year, and none of this would have happened if the UK had maintained a neutral stance on the conflict.
Worst of all is the fact that the government have intervened in the Ukraine with absolutely no mandate from the citizens of the UK.
The only answer is a Referendum and there is a petition for such on the subject, for the UK to become a neutral peacemaker.
