I have written before about the obsequious and sometimes sinister art of linguistics, the methods by which propagandists design their narrative around specific words to embed emotions and ideas that resonate with people’s feelings and ultimately help to shape their thinking along the lines intended by the writer.
But there is a wider problem and a dangerous situation brewing in the commentariat right now and this is the attack on anyone who questions the government Covid orthodoxy.
The poisonous nature of the language used in the press about people who dare to question any aspect of the given narrative about Covid19 is there for anyone to see. Covidiot, antivaxer are commonly used as terms of derision and ridicule by the mainstream media to marginalise people who have doubts, questions or find anomalies in the data given by the government.
This is bad enough but now we have a problem even within the sector of people who don’t accept the government lines. The debate between people who say ‘covid19 isn’t real’ and those who say ‘covid19 exists but is being overblown’ is becoming toxic.
We need to detoxify this debate – and soon.
I’d like to introduce a concept. Think if you will about a certain well known fast food chain who have a clown as their mascot. You’ll be aware that before covid and their restricted menu they used to frequently have a series of ‘specials’ – promotional menus that they market on the basis of themes.
The one I remember is the taste of America thing, there was a Mexican burger, Cajun burger – etc etc. But the crucial issue is that this was just a quarterpounder with a different type of sauce each week. This is the concept I would like you to embed as part of your thinking.
You can sell a lot of burgers by dressing them up with different sauces and then making a huge fuss about the differences between them, when in fact those differences are trivial. This is known in marketing as ‘differentiation’ – they do the same thing for washing powder – which despite the huge array of big names are all made by about two manufacturers.
Covid19 is a coronavirus which is a family of viruses including flu and colds, all of which are endemic, contagious, mostly non life threatening and typically peak during the winter months. Most people who are questioning the Covid narrative have the opinion that the panic and disruption are being artificially elevated and shaped for political means – of course debate rages about what the true objectives are and who is really in charge of shaping that narrative.
The facts seem to stack up clearly – Covid19 is just another coronavirus, but this time, just like a certain burger chain, they’ve dressed it up with special mayo and all the trimmings, this is not just your ordinary virus, this is COVID19 – it has special properties, blah blah blah blah and you’d better do what we say or granny dies.
This is where the conflict occurs, and when you think about it there really isn’t a need for it. What there is a desperate need for is for people to stop bickering about the minutia because this is what whoever is controlling this debacle want. They want any resistance atomised into small pockets so they can be individually targeted and closed down by the use of the insidious state propaganda and the mainstream media nexus.
Let’s face brutal facts – there are extreme fringes in every movement. There are people who think there is no such thing as a virus or that 5g death beams are frying your brain. These people are entitled to think what they want, it doesn’t mean that anybody who questions the government lines has these same extreme views as them but of course the mainstream media will lump any dissent in with the extremists and turn the rump masses of uninformed MSM consumers against them – with the result being these people are silenced.
There has recently been a spate of high profile sceptics being either harassed off social media or simply smeared to the point where they cease to want to engage, this is a worrying sign that the government/MSM fusion operation is having the desired effect.
Please think for a while on this. Don’t fall victim to the burger of the week trick. Arguing about tiny differences simply weakens everyone’s case. The central issues going forward are freedom, civil rights, free speech and economic autonomy, concerns about the statistical justifications for lockdown are well justified. The ‘science’ we are being propagandised to embrace is being twisted to suit cynical globalist narratives, the questions about side effects are being ignored and correlations between care home vaccinations and clusters of deaths are being concealed.
In my email every day I hear from people who are trying to bring their elected representatives to account or at least get some straight answers and almost universally they are either being ignored or fobbed off with platitudes or double speak. This makes it even more important that people stick together for the big issues and stop falling into the linguistic pitfalls that have set up for them because we need each other more so now than ever before.
