Please note that the government has ignored the 18 year success of Guernsey’s Long Term Care scheme.
In Guernsey, no money is hived off to their equivalent National Health Services and all goes into Care needs.
In Guernsey, there is no means testing and everyone is treated the same.
In Guernsey there is no need to sell any assets, house or otherwise, whereas the British government proposes only a ceiling on that area.
In Guernsey, people deciding to use the service only have to commit their state old age pensions and nothing else.
The government proposals seem to be a way of them covering the funding gap because of their gross wasteful expenditure of NHS money on their covid-19 policies, many of which have been completely unnecessary.
The public need to know where their money is going, which is why it is the Guernsey scheme which they should be using as the right template to resolve the problem.
Any additional funding the NHS needs should be a totally different subject but the public should not be penalised for the government’s mistakes.

Opinions from the Unity News Network (UNN) editorial team & various contributors. | UNN always clearly distinguishes between news and opinion pieces and as an open minded outlet we publish views from a variety of people and organisation that do not necessarily reflect the views of UNN or its writers. Articles published under UNN Opinions are always opinion pieces and if published on behalf of a contributor will contain that authors name at the start of the piece.
