The United Kingdom has passed an Immigration Bill through Parliament on Monday that will end free movement from Dec. 31 forward.
The bill will give the United Kingdom the power to determine who comes to the country for the first time in decades. The new migration policy brings an end to free movement from the 31st of December.
The U.K. is no longer a member of the European Union, and the nations transition period after Brexit comes to an end this year, with new rules from January 2021.
Taking to Twitter to celebrating the bill passing, Home Secretary Priti Patel wrote: “After many years of campaigning, I am delighted the Immigration Bill which will end free movement on 31st December has today passed through Parliament.
“We are delivering on the will of the British people.”

However not everyone was convinced the new bill would reduce levels of immigration into Britain, @phurstclass responded to the Home Secretary on Twitter saying: “Every year since 2010 the number of legal immigrants coming into the UK has increased, until it is now a record total. Most of these people were from outside the EU.
“The Tories have always had the powers to curtail immigration but have never used it.”

@Beany_1 on Twitter responded to Ms Patel saying: “You forgot to mention you’ve dropped the salary threshold and that exceptions will be made for industries that have shortages. Ie that this is just a prejudiced, inflammatory, dog whistling gimmick.”
Others raised different kind of concerns, @MFIJake wrote: “No, you’re taking away the rights of 68 million UK citizens to live, work, study, love and retire in 27 EU countries. You’ve shattered the dreams of thousands of young people and the elderly. Shameful behaviour. But we will overturn your edict inspired by the American people.”
