The Conservative MP Ben Bradley has announced that he will refuse to take part in ‘unconscious bias’ training for MPs that is being arranged following the Black Lives Matter protests across the UK. Ben Bradley has slammed what he has described as a ‘metropolitan groupthink that is intolerant to any diversity of views’ and said he would not take part in the training.
UNN’s Oliver Down understands that the UK Parliament has paid the ‘Challenge Consultancy’ firm £7,000 to design a course on ‘unconscious bias’ for MPs. In addition to this, the company has already been paid £800,000 from Parliament for conduct lessons which will advise MP’s on words they should avoid.
Off the back of this, Mr Bradley who is 30 has accused the firm of ‘profiteering’ as well as claiming that a significant section of society ‘abhor the antics of BLM, of Extinction Rebellion and the like telling them what they should think’.
Bradley has told the Conservative Home website: ‘They know their own minds. It’s that kind of conflict with the metropolitan bubble where our institutions largely exist that lead us to Brexit, too. Woke ideology seems pretty deeply embedded at this point. In my view we should be unabashed in our cultural conservatism, sticking up for free speech and the right to ‘make my own bloody mind up, thank you very much’, and stepping in to block this ‘unconscious bias’ nonsense. I, for one, will not be taking it, and I’d call on my colleagues to take the same stand. Maybe we can have a good go at some bigger reforms too. After all, this is a Conservative Government!’.
The political commentator Isabel Oakeshott has praised Ben Bradley via Twitter by saying “Hero of the day is @BBradley_Mans who is refusing to undergo “unconscious bias training” for MPs. It’s going to cost taxpayers £700,000! What a load of old bollocks. Well done that man”.
