The use of so-called social distancing ‘zappers’ on other people could constitute an offence, the Police Service of Northern Ireland has warned.
The zappers, or ‘social sticks’, are freely available on online retail sites, including Amazon, and have become popular, especially with younger people according to reports from the Belfast Telegraph.

The product costing around £10, they are small enough to fit in pockets but telescopically extend up to 6ft — depending on the length of your arm — and give off a 4.5 volt charge.
The device features an extendable design that can be used for poking at a person if they are getting too close for comfort and will provide them with a shock.
The Social Distance Zapper is not a toy and will actually inflict just a bit of pain, leading to PSNI issuing the warning about their use.
