Equality Watchdog warns Vaccine Passports could create ‘two-tier society’, but are we already there?

Mandatory vaccination policies “likely to be unlawful”,

The introduction of a Coronavirus passport or ‘Covid status certificates’ as the government has dubbed them, risks discriminating against some groups the UK equality watchdog has warned.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission says certificates to prove who is vaccinated could help to ease restrictions “in principle”, they warned the system could create a “two-tier society whereby only certain groups are able to fully enjoy their rights”.

Blanket mandatory vaccination policies are “likely to be unlawful”, it added.

The independent commission says ‘Covid status certificates’ could discriminate against marginalised groups where the take-up of the vaccine is lower, as well as the small number of people who cannot have the vaccine for medical reasons.

Discrimination Passports?

The watchdog warned of the impacts saying requiring the certificates for travel, going to work, enjoying social activities or accessing essential services could risk further excluding people from some ethnic minority groups, migrants and people from lower socio-economic groups.

Baroness Kishwer Falkner, chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission said if the certificates are introduced, they must be time-limited and regularly reviewed by Parliament to ensure they are proportionate: “We would monitor the rollout to ensure the right balance is struck between protecting the public’s health and our individual freedoms,” she said.

Rewriting the Rules?

The equality watchdog also raised concerns about proposals to make vaccination a condition of employment for some workers, it said “a blanket policy requiring workers to be vaccinated, applied inflexibly, is likely to be unlawful” because there are a small number of people who are not able to be vaccinated.

Concerns have been raised after some companies and employers such as the chairman of Pimlico Plumbers, a large plumbing firm employing self-employed contractors in London, stated they would rewrite its workers’ contracts to require them to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

One must wonder if Pimlico Plumbers have listened to the EHRC when they said any mandatory vaccine policy must be “objectively justified” and applied in a way that is “proportionate” – on top of the major discrimination concerns that the watchdog said could lead to a ‘two-tier society’.

‘Two-tier society’ already on our doorsteps?

When the EHRC claims a ‘two-tier society’ is coming I genuinely wonder if they have looked out of the ivory tower to see the kind of things that have been taking place in the UK as of recent.

Many have already raised concerns about a two-tier system in that protests are allowed and permitted with a hands-off approach if they are deemed to fit In with the political narrative – while many others with perfectly legitimate concerns about lockdown, potentially mandatory Covid Passports and anything else that seems to decent from the narrative has shut out and in some cases met with what seems from an onlookers perspective as absolute brutal force.

Many would argue we are already living in a two-tier system whereby anyone who so much as is preserved as not being politically correct enough or not willing to submit to the narrative can be cast out, alienated and dubbed whatever lazy buzzword is doing the round on that given day to try and mar the person for life.

Conclusion:

The objective of this new class of social justice is not social justice at all but quite the opposite, real believers in freedom and democracy understand when the boundaries have been pushed to far and all logical thinking lost in a blurry haze of what seems to many of us like absolute madness that is counter-productive to the western way of living.

The coming weeks should prove interesting in Parliament, all citizens that value freedom should be paying close attention to the legislation that could be imposed.

Once they have set it in stone, it becomes a different ball game all together and a law that was proposed to be temporary could very easily become a permanent fixture in our lives such as Covid passports or the rampant use of lockdowns of other means not just necessarily public health.

I for one wish to see a United Kingdom that should be allowed to flourish without the chains of political authoritarianism binding it down at everyturn, I am confident a significate majority of Britons feel this way.

The people have the power to change the system, will they?
