What can be done to remove the Coronavirus Act ?

By Anthony Webber:

The Coronavirus Act is the source of many  of the draconian restrictions which have been forced upon the population of the U.K.

It certainly is not the only Act as the Public Health Act 1984 also bears much responsibility but the reality is that the Coronavirus Act 2020 is the lynchpin pin which set all the other actions off in the first place.

As usual with crucial matters before our Houses of Parliament , this government has given only days notice of the crucial
vote on renewing the anti-freedom Coronavirus Act.

This is an appalling way to treat our democratic system and discredits it immensely.

How are the electorate supposed to have time to get in touch with their MP’s before this vote ? It is very difficult indeed!

This is aside from the fact that the Act should have no legality anyway as it was supposed to be renewed by the end of September

.It only underlines the government’s attitude to the people consenting to their Covid -19 policies. It is one of utter contempt for the electorate . It seems the government intend to continue regardless of anyone else’s point of view except their own . The correct defination of contempt for democracy and government without proper democratic accountability is “authoritarian,” a concept alien to our traditional free values.

This Tuesday 19th October we are hoping that many people will choose to lobby their MP’s outside Parliament to hope against hope that they will not renew the Coronavirus Act.
We also hope that many will also write to their MP’s on the subject.

Crucially we encourage everyone to sign and share the Parliamentary Petition to have a national Referendum on removing the Coronavirus Act.

The Petition received an overdue response from the government on 15th October when those signing it were about 54,000.

This response will be dealt with in detail.

However, crucially the government rejected having a Referendum. They gave no reason for this because they have not got a leg to stand on. They were happy to get into government in the back of a previous referendum, but when a serious political issue comes up which is equally deserving of a referendum , they reject it.

This is why the Petition needs to reach 100,000 as it is then considered for a Parliamentary debate.

It will be very difficult for MP’s to reject a referendum when most of them profess to support their concept.

At the moment the government is on the back foot. They have denied a referendum and have shown themselves to be both undemocratic and hypocritical!

They have confirmed the do not want the people to have their say .

They are running scared about losing a referendum despite all the resources they have !

They know that this Referendum will enable free and open two sided debate, and as they have denied this for 19 months , they do not want the truth to come out !

Please sign and share the Petition which is currently about 64,000!
