Why we must oppose Covid Vaccination Passports: Your Fundamental Freedom!

The prospect of a Coronavirus vaccination passport is a daunting one, for the United Kingdom, a nation still held in such high esteem around the world and pointed to as a beacon of hope, freedom and democracy is now succumbing to the powers of tyrannical rule and authoritarianism.

HM’s Government repeatedly told the British Public that Covid Vaccination Passports would not be brought in on a national level, but the government has now made significate U-turns on this promise and claims that it would be unwise not to explore the possibility.

Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi after previously telling the British people the idea was not being explored had to make a major shift in policy on live TV when he claimed: “It’s only right that we look at all these options that are available to us to take our lives back.”

The government said certificates showing vaccination, test or immunity status could “provide reassurance” to the public, a worrying prospect they are now considering bringing such a passport into effect.

Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she was open-minded about using certificates to allow certain activities to resume and has called for an open debate on the idea.

However, many MPs and legal experts have already raised serious concerns about the implications such a document could have on British life and questioned the legality of it, given many pregnant women will not have been vaccinated and others from protected characteristic backgrounds – if the scheme if launched, it could be unlawfully discriminating against anyone who is denied access to a service or good if they failed to show their vaccination passport.

Senior Conservative backbencher Mark Harper MP warning it could lead to a “two-tier” Britain, demanding a vote on the issue, it is hard to disagree given the implications that such a document would have on everyday life.

Mr Zahawi told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme the use of certificates domestically “does raise a number of ethical issues”, he’s not wrong here and I will expect many of these to be challenged in a court of law if the scheme ever makes it into the public domain.

No decision has yet been made on whether Covid status certificates will be introduced, but the government has now published an update on its review.

Conclusion:

Ten reasons why must we oppose Covid Vaccination Passports:

  1. It’s not the British way to impose restrictions on our own citizens.
  2. This scheme could discriminate against people who have not received the vaccine.
  3. We were promised this would not be brought into play.
  4. The creep of authoritarianism could be rapidly speeded up if this is allowed to happen.
  5. No end in sight? First Covid passports to go into a Pub then what, to visit your family at a hospital?
  6. We must oppose this for the ones that are unable to including children and the vulnerable.
  7. COVID-19 immunity is a mystery – the date is simply not yet accurate enough to know.
  8. Monitoring erodes privacy – do you want a privately run app or the government having this much information on you?
  9. New forms of discrimination – this could see people marginalised and penalised in ways we could never imagine in the United Kingdom.
  10. Threats to public health. Immunity passports could create perverse incentives.

Ask yourself, do you trust an establishment that has continuously lied to the British people, do you really think they have our best interests at heart?
