Woman, 30, charged with murder of seven-year-old girl stabbed to death

A female has been charged with the murder of a seven-year-old girl In Bolton on Mother’s Day.

Greater Manchester Police have announced that Eltiona Skana, an Albanian 31-year-old woman has been remanded in custody following the death of Emily Jones.
Ms Skana will appear before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court. On Sunday, March 22 the police were called to Queen’s Park in Bolton following reports that a child had been stabbed. Emergency services attended the incident Emily passed away a short time later.
Ms Skana was arrested at the scene and was later detained under the Mental Health Act. She has been charged with murder, as well as possession of a bladed article.
Emily’s parents have paid tribute to their daughter and described her as the “light of our lives”. And that “She was always full of joy, love and laughter. Emily had such a cheeky smile and was beautiful inside and out. She had a heart as big as her smile”.
