Mr Trump said the companies he had asked to help Mr Johnson were big ones with London offices. Asked about the treatment they might offer, he said: “It’s a very complex treatment of things they’ve just recently developed.
“They’ve already concurred, already had meetings with the doctors, and we’ll see whether or not they want to go that route.
“But when you’re in intensive care it’s a big deal.
“You’d know the companies if I told you the companies, but the people are the greatest in the world.
“So they’re at the hospital and well see, and they have everything with them should it be needed, hopefully it won’t be needed.”

Speaking to BBC Breakfast this morning, Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove said Mr Johnson is receiving the “very best care”, he said: “As we speak the Prime Minister is in intensive care being looked after by his medical team, receiving the very, very best care from the team at St Thomas’ and our hopes and prayers are with him and with his family.”
The former Tory party leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith reassured the British public that the PM should make a full recovery, he told BBC Breakfast: “The Boris I know is a fighter. He never gives up. His whole life has been about that, so I’m with him all the way as many of my friends and colleagues are.”

Commenting on Mr Johnson’s determination to keep going despite his condition, Sir Iain said: “The truth is, he’s Prime Minister. He was elected to run this country, and no Prime Minister is going to suddenly say ‘look, I’m not well, I’m just gonna let somebody else do it’.
“He does it up until the point, quite rightly, where he feels he can no longer contribute, because of the circumstances surrounding his illness. And I think he’s done that. Now that may have taken its toll.
“But that, notwithstanding, is pretty much the way I would have expected and thought he would have behaved, and therefore I think right now we need to focus absolutely on how we get through this.
“Let’s pray that Boris comes through. I’m sure he will. I believe strongly in his capability and his determination and the work of the doctors and the nurses in this wonderful NHS that we’ve got.”
