Mayor of Totnes gives thumbs up to medical apartheid

Mayor Ben Piper of Totnes, Devon, has chosen to reveal to the Totnes Times the quite astonishing depths to which his morals have sunk, by condemning with fire-and-brimstone hatred those of the town seeking merely to gather peacefully to discuss the great issue of our times: Covid-19, and the British Government’s response to it.

Mr Mayor, seeing as how you have made it abundantly clear to the townsfolk that you shall brook no mano a mano consultation on the small matter of your recent prohibition on freedom of speech, opting instead to throw insults at the local community from behind a piece of Fisher Price journalism, allow me to swat your quite frankly pitiful argument on behalf of all of the town with wits still intact, even after 20 months of obscene physical and psychological overreaches of State power.

You say Mayor Piper, that ‘preying on peoples fear and vulnerability really is something I personally find despicable.’ I find this statement somewhat incompatible with the Government ethos you so clearly support, as, since March 2020 the official strategy of one of the State’s many advisory teams, the Scientific Pandemic Insights Group on Behaviours (SPI-B), has been to ‘use media to increase sense of personal threat’. 

It makes me squirm with embarrassment to have to quote that line to a grown man these days, let alone the Mayor of my town, so overtly has the strategy been implemented that I still cannot fathom how any adult could not yet have noticed its insidious presence in society. Those of us who refuse to yield to such an exploitative campaign of ‘hard-hitting emotional messaging’, instead of bowing to it as you have in a feeble attempt to camouflage your moral torpor, scoff when we then hear the lazy and terrorised themselves sermonise upon the perils of fear and vulnerability; the blame for whose spread is then ludicrously ascribed to the energetic and brave. This is called the deflection of guilt, Mayor Piper.

You say that ‘freedom of speech is not freedom to lie’, but again, this is incongruent with the official Covid-19 policy of which you clearly approve, as the State has been afforded free-reign to deceive the public with impunity. If you had taken the trouble to view the UK Health Security Agency’s latest vaccine surveillance report you would have noticed that case numbers in the double-jabbed cohorts dwarf those in the unvaccinated, and there are more double-jabbed than unvaccinated people aged 50 and over (your cohort Mr Mayor) not only presenting to emergency care with Covid-19, but then also dying with the disease. Yet our freedom is still contingent upon our getting vaccinated. Do you see no duplicity at work here? 

You yourself then say that vaccination is ‘currently keeping the NHS functioning’. Might I ask from where you harvested this information – a parrot perhaps? – or is it in fact, in light of the aforementioned UKHSA data, you simply having granted yourself ‘freedom to lie’?  

That you felt compelled to block a local discussion on an issue that has grave and far-reaching consequences on a national scale, not only highlights your total abdication of any moral and civic duty, but I would go so far as to say that in having done so in defence of the local community, as you claimed, you have thus paradoxically identified yourself as a health threat to them. Can you not see therefore, that in reality it is you who is mired in injurious deceit? Censorship is, after all, the most slothful form of lie; yet a lie nonetheless.

Let us go a step further Mr Mayor, particularly in light of the wildly libellous comment you made regarding the ‘people who have suffered aggravated assault or had loved ones killed’ as a direct result of the hatred you say is promulgated by such people as those invited to speak at the Awakening Conference you cancelled.

At the time of writing the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency’s Yellow Card Reporting Scheme for adverse events suffered shortly after Covid-19 vaccination is showing 1,766 fatalities; a number by their own admission potentially only a fraction of the real figure. 

So I ask you Mr Mayor, in denying the townsfolk of Totnes an opportunity to openly discuss such worrying data, again, surely it is you, flaunting your power of censorship, who is advocating forms of assault and death, and not those merely pointing at the vaccine cenotaph? Or do you hand-on-heart consider all of this clamour over Yellow Card figures to be, as you said, useless ‘philosophical pontification on the issue’?

I suspect that the friends and relatives of those of ALL ages who have died from having taken the vaccine, alongside those victims perhaps blinded, paralysed or blighted by myocarditis post-injection (do peruse the menu of adverse reactions, it really is quite extraordinarily comprehensive) do no such thing as pontificate over their losses, overcome by grief and anger as they are. 

That you also chose to attempt an unsubstantiated smearing of Mr Hopwood’s fine reputation by cruelly associating him with hate-motivated murder is not only an absolute disgrace worthy of your immediate resignation or sacking, but had your foul comment been directed at a less gentle soul I dare say you would soon find yourself in court. What on earth were you thinking Mr Mayor? You really did wind your neck out too far with such an unforgiveable, hurtful comment.

The trouble with your ilk Mayor Piper, is that you are all robes and no trousers. I use the Government website only, to set out my stall vis-a-vis what is a public health debate (and even then utilising for your benefit only the most rudimentary of data found there), whilst you, out of your depth even in the shallows of the argument, opt to spout-off about anti-semitism, white supremacy and flat-earth theory in a desperate attempt to flail your way back to the pool’s edge. You sir, are in dire need of a few swimming lessons.   

We are well used to your presence on the high street, but now that you have chosen to lay bare your frail morals to all, you shall from henceforth be seen by the majority of the town as nowt more than an apparition of a man. I say the majority because the petition upon which you claim to have based the Awakening Conference’s unjust cancellation closed with 172 signatures. At the time of writing the counter-petition stands at 896. Can you see now which group it really is causing in Totnes this ‘distress and division’ of which you speak?

If medical apartheid comes to Totnes, you shall swiftly learn that not even its most ardent supporters, such as yourself, shall be able to escape its horrors. It shall not be a black and white situation Mayor Piper, but an endless spectrum of greys: if the interventions don’t ensnare you directly, then their economic, social, familial, and political fallout will.

Those able to fully comprehend, in the present moment, the catastrophic implications of segregation – the true champions of love, liberty and life – shall in spite of their traumas remain with heads held high; while you – the cowardly ribbon-cutters of this world – who having ushered it in with your broken morality, shall then spend hours staring long and hard into the mirror, wondering just what the hell you have done. 

The agony of your private shame shall dwarf the privations experienced by the brave, and that’s why, for the moment at least, we don’t hate you Mr Mayor, but feel sorry for you.

Under apartheid, and pushed to the brink, don’t be surprised if that changes.
