‘BRUTAL & SENSELESS’ attack leaves innocent 98 year old London man fighting for life

A 98-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was beaten and robbed in his own home. Peter Gouldstone was found with bruising and a head injury at a property in Evesham Road, in the Bounds Green area of north London, on Tuesday morning.

The Met Police described it as a “brutal and senseless” attack involving “completely excessive” violence.
Neighbours blasted the attack as “callous”.

One neighbour said they hadn’t seen him much since his wife died and the people are scared: “I used to take his bins out for him because he wasn’t steady. Of course it affects you because it’s worrying. It’s callous.
“Who could have done this to an old man like him?”

The 98-year-old was found seriously injured in his home in Evesham Road. Another elderly neighbour who was too scared to give her name said: “His son came and then police and an ambulance were here until it was dark. I’ve known him for many years and he has a charming family. It’s not nice.”

During a search of Mr Gouldstone’s home, police officers discovered a television and other personal belongings had been taken.

A Police cordon remains in place and a Spokesperson said:

This was a brutal and senseless attack on a vulnerable pensioner in his own home. The level of violence used was completely excessive. From our inquiries we have established that the victim was spoken to by a family member on the telephone on Monday 5 November at 14:00 and had not raised any concerns.

We are therefore confident the attack took place in the 20-hour window between then, possibly on Bonfire Night, to when he was discovered.

I would urge any members of the public that may have seen any persons acting suspiciously in the vicinity of Evesham Road, Enfield, N11 to come forward as a priority.”
