It is quite astonishing that it has now been two months since normal life was suspended for the Wuhan coronavirus. I’ve continued to make the point that the government and the mainstream media under-estimated its severity for two months and did nothing when they could have put in measures to stop the virus from spreading. When it was too late, they went to other extreme and over-reacted which has destroyed civil liberties and done untold unnecessary damage to the economy and will leave the nation with a bill of at least £300 billion for a virus that is no more serious than the Hong Kong flu of 1968.
I keep on putting out messages on social media to that effect and calling for them to end the lockdown, open things up and use hydroxychloroquine at an early stage for treating it. It seems that quite a bit of what I say does get picked up by Breitbart and Spiked, etc. and even on occasion gets into the mainstream. Some MPs like Steve Baker, David Davis and Ian Duncan Smith are becoming restless about the situation, and have said similar things to me a couple of weeks later. That at least is some encouragement.
I’ve made a couple more videos on my channel mainly commenting on the need to end the lockdown, and the viciousness of the Lockdown Lobby in attacking people who do not have the same view as them.

While coronavirus is the major news, there are other issues to contend with as well. Illegal immigration across the English Channel is out of control. Priti Patel keeps vowing to do something about it but nothing changes. The Home Office has said that it is not that easy to stop. This is nonsense. The government could easily deal with it if it wanted to by repudiating the EU’s Dublin III regulations, withdrawing from the UN Global Migration compact, Barcelona Declaration and Marrakesh declaration, and setting up an Australian- style system where people caught trying to enter the country illegally from another safe country like France are detained offshore until they can be returned to their home country. The Johnson administration however, seems as committed to maintaining mass, rapid immigration as in the Blair/Brown/Cameron/May years.
The green lobby is using the coronavirus situation to ‘transform towns and cities’. This is particularly the case is London where Mayor Sadiq Khan is narrowing road space for motor vehicles all over the city to put in cycle lanes which are sparsely used. With Grant Shapps announcement that the government has found £2 billion for more cycle lanes, the Tories are fully on the anti-car green bandwagon. I am the only London Mayoral candidate who is opposed to these plans. Like most people, I support cycling where it is viable, but realise that London is never going to be a cycling paradise like Amsterdam or Copenhagen, which are far smaller and much less densely populated. Narrowing road space for motor vehicles actually increases congestion and pollution as gridlocked vehicles take far longer to complete their journeys.
The election campaign is effectively suspended at the moment, as it impossible to go out canvassing or hold public meetings. However, I have big plans for the autumn when things get back to normal. If you’d like to get involved, do let me know!
