Extension Rebellion slammed for blocking roads to London hospitals

The Extension Rebellion protesters that have brought London to a standstill for the last 2 days have been labelled as “morons” after a cancer patient was prevented from travelling to a London hospital and forced to walk to receive treatment. At the time of writing 319 people have been arrested after 2 days of the two-week strikes. Many have reacted with horror at the chaos caused in the capital. One of these people was Adeline Adjei who was forced to abandon her car and battle through the crowds with her friend who is suffering from cancer. 

Ms Adjei stated via twitter “As you shut down main roads leading London hospitals, I walked 20mins with someone who has CANCER so they could get to hospital for a procedure, as the car couldn’t get through. 20mins might not sound long but when u have CANCER IT IS! Thanks, Extinction Rebellion!” These revelations have caused outrage with the replies using words such as “arrogant” and “selfish”. Extinction rebellion anticipates that around 30,000 people will partake in the events over the next two weeks.

UNN’s Oliver Down has sent an email to the press department at extinction rebellion but is yet to receive a response as of yet. The police appear to have stepped up the response force compared with the strategy of policing the summer protests. Reports of gross inconveniences that potentially put lives at risk are unlikely to increase public support for extinction rebellion. In addition to this, last evening whilst speaking at a launch of a Margret Thatcher biography, Boris Johnson described extinction rebellion as “nose-ringed crusties in hemp-smelling bivouacs”. These are tough words from the British PM who seems unlikely to be reacting to the behaviour of extinction rebellion.
