“I know it’s illegal but no one will find out”-Sick Paedophile Jailed

A debauched paedophile groomed two young girls on social media before meeting them and sexually abusing them. Dewan Gazi, 22, met a 12-year-old girl in her own home before raping her, and he took a 15-year-old girl to his home and sexually abused her.

The appalling abuse of the 12-year-old came to light after her mother found her dancing half naked in her bedroom, with a mobile phone propped up to film herself.

When they talked about the age difference, Gazi, from Blackley, told the girl that ‘age is just a number’.

According to reports in the local Manchester Paper:

After meeting the 15-year-old girl the first time, she told Gazi that she had searched on the internet and found that the age of consent was 16, and she was concerned she might get in trouble.

Messaging on social media, Gazi replied with a laughter emoji, and said: “Yeah I know it is illegal, but no-one will find out.”

Jailing Gazi for 12 years, Judge Michael Leeming told him: “You must understand it is illegal, it is not alright and people have found out.”

Manchester Crown Court heard that records showed Gazi had contacted 95 girls on the social media app Yubo, which some have dubbed ‘Tinder for teens’.

In statements read to the court, the 12-year-old girl said that she feels anxious going outside, and feels angry towards Gazi.

The 15-year-old said that she has self-harmed, and had suicidal feelings.

Michael Goldwater, defending, said that Gazi finds it ‘difficult to understand himself’ why he committed the offences.

He said Gazi was sorry for what he has done, and admits he has caused a ‘great deal of damage’.

The offences were: one count of sexual communication with a child, two counts of meeting a child following sexual grooming, one count of sexually assaulting of a child, one count of the rape of a child, four counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of assault by penetration, two counts of taking an indecent image of a child and one count of distributing an indecent image of a child.

Gazi was ordered to sign the sex offender’s register for life.
