Just 5 out of 11 candidates in by-election respond to questions on lockdowns

FIVE OUT OF THE ELEVEN RESPOND

By Anthony Webber

A questionnaire was sent out to all eleven Candidates in the Old Bexley and Sidcup by –election which takes place on Thursday 2nd December 2021. The deadline was extended to give them all ample and fair time in which to respond.

The questionnaire listed a number of Yes/No questions together with the opportunity to make further comments if they so desired.

The questions essentially covered all the issues of the covid-19 pandemic, from the start to the present day.

They include lockdowns, test and trace, travel restrictions and quarantines, covid-19 vaccines coercions, mandates and passports, and much more.

One question asked if the Candidates are committed to signing a Parliamentary Petition for a Referendum on abolishing the UK Coronavirus Act, which is progressing well with the signatures.

The questionnaire had been sent out because the issues cross party political boundaries ( at least with the mainstream parties), and it sought to find out which different approaches the candidates have on them.

It was noticeable, for instance, that at the Amersham and Chesham by –election the Liberal Democrats were surprise winners, with a more freedom/liberty approach on the covid issues.

That does not seem to be case with this by –election, and all the main parties are fighting on broadly predictable issues.

There are four parties which are stated to have a freedom from lockdown approach, (the English Democrats, the Heritage, the Reform and UKIP), one party ( Christian People’s party) which is in that direction, and two which are difficult to ascertain ( the Rejoin the EU and the Monster Raving Loony).

The other four parties, ( the mainstream Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democratic and Green ) at present do not seem to have that much difference in their approach to covid isues.

Thus this questionnaire was both important and helpful and the answers are now available to the electorate to help them with their vote decision making.

Please note the questionnaire is attached below and the results are in the attached links:

In summary, five of the Candidates responded.

Four  candidates answered all of the questions.

( Christian People’s Party, English Democrats Party, Heritage Party and UKIP)

One gave a statement on one aspect of the questionnaire ( The Reform Party).

All the rest, did not respond, despite being sent numerous reminders.

Three committed to supporting a Referendum on abolishing the UK Coronavirus Act

( English Democrats, Heritage , and UKIP)

All the other answers are in the links including the statement from the Reform Party candidate.

My comment on the results:

“I am appalled by the non- response of six candidates of the Conservative Party, The Labour Party, the Liberal Democratic Party , the Green Party, the Rejoin Party and the Monster Raving Loony Party.

It shows complete disdain and arrogance by them as individuals and reflects badly on their party’s attitude to the electorate.

This questionnaire was sent out to help the electors decide on who to vote for in respect of their approach to covid issues. At least electors have some idea with five of the candidates and know that six did not respond.”

With all best wishes
