The multi-national fast-food chain KFC revealed last evening that all their chicken is halal. The KFC UK help Twitter page stated on Twitter “the chicken is all from Halal supporters regardless of the restaurant being halal or not”. This Tweet has been subsequently deleted; however, this did not stop UNN from obtaining evidence of this tweet.
This slip up could have greatly impacted on sales for the fast-food chain. However, as of Wednesday morning, none of the MSM publications has decided to run this story. KFC’s official website claims that only 10% of its shops are Halal restaurants. This Tweet confirms that every single one of the 900 plus stores in the UK use chicken that has been inhumanely slaughtered.
Talk relating to KFC’s chicken standards has been rife on social media and understandably many in Britain who disapprove of Halal will be horrified by these revelations. However, UNN’s Oliver Down has contacted KFC to obtain some clarification on this issue. Oliver emailed the contact given to him by KFC at Freuds PR company who provided UNN with an exclusive comment. Via Freuds A KFC spokesperson has told UNN “Hands up… Last night’s Tweet was posted in error and is not true. It was immediately removed. We’re an open and inclusive business and want KFC’s doors to be open to as many people as possible, so we are proud to provide a halal offering in some of our restaurants. We have approximately 950 restaurants, 128 of which serve only Halal certified chicken which is clearly signposted both on the doors and counters of our restaurants and online. We offer halal chicken in restaurants where there is interest from our customers and have ensured, where possible, that an alternative non-halal restaurant is nearby to satisfy all of our fans. To be crystal clear: our halal chickens are humanely stunned, and we ensure that all our chicken meet the same rigorous welfare standards. We make no compromises and never will.”
A further member of staff at Freuds told UNN via a telephone call that yesterdays tweet was “human error”. The author of last nights tweet is very likely to have some explaining to do for his catastrophic “human error”. UNN’s Oliver Down will also be sure to alert the MSM publications of these developments.
