Many MSM publications, lead by a Daily Mirror “investigation” are this morning running headlines that allege that the police were called to a lockdown party at the home of the Conservative MP Rob Roberts.
Sky News has this morning ran the headline that “Police break up ‘birthday party’ at Tory MP Rob Roberts’s house”. The ‘Independent’ headline read “Police called to break up ‘party’ at Conservative MP’s house”. This is just an average selection of this morning’s reporting of the incident.
These headlines, appear to omit a small fact, that Rob Robert’s MP no longer lives at the address. Mr Roberts took to Twitter to correct the rebut the original story. Mr Roberts said “ 1. I was *200 miles away* in London. 2. My family have been reminded of the guidance set out by the government”.
When asked by a Twitter user if he has been in London for a period of time Mr Roberts said “Yes. Where I have been for the past 6 weeks since we separated”. UNN’s Oliver Down understands that Mr Roberts and his wife separated after he came out.
Lord Davies of Gower commented on the matter and said “Desperate story by a rubbish publication, whose standard of reporting doubtless reflects the decline of their regional publications owned of course by Reach plc”.
Mr Roberts also denies that he knew the party was set to take place.
