A new opinion poll by the highly respected Ipsos Mori group has shown that Just 19 percent of the British public have faith in the Prime Minister’s ability to get the UK a good Brexit deal.
According to Ipsos Mori:
Overall half the public (49%) think the Brexit negotiations are going worse than expected, though only slightly fewer (43%) feel they are going about the same as they expected (4% think they are going better than expected). Both these figures have risen since May when 37% said they were going worse than expected and 24% said the same as expected.
When it comes to who is to blame if Britain and the EU do not reach a deal, the public see the responsibility being equally shared between the UK Government (36%), the EU (37%) and Conservative MPs (37%). A third (32%) also blame Brexit campaigners (compared with 14% blaming Remain campaigners) while 16% blame the Labour party and 10% other opposition parties.
This comes as desperation is growing around supposedly ‘hardline’ Brexiteers such as Jacob Rees Mogg, Boris Johnson & David Davis after last night’s 1922 committee which was supposed to be when the Brexiteers made their move turned into what one described as a ‘petting zoo’ where May was serenaded by senior Tories.
Careerist MP Stephen Crabb has also been roasted after showing how out of touch the Westminster MP’s are in his gushing praise of Theresa May:
Jacob Rees Mogg continues to prove to be all talk and no action as he apparently encouraged members of the ERG pro-Brexit group NOT to submit letters that would be required to force a leadership contest. 48 letters are needed to launch a contest and it is thought there are currently around 40 lodged. The only MP who appears to be unashamedly pro-Brexit and fighting hard against May is Andrea Jenkynson.
