A nude family swim session at Blackpool’s Sandcastle Waterpark has prompted a massive backlash from campaigners who argue that young children should not be allowed to take part in such debauchery.
Manchester Evening News has revealed how the skinny dipping event is taking place this weekend and open to adults and kids of all ages.
The event has been organised by British Naturism and it is promised that those who attend can get rid of all their clothes and use the water slides.
It’s the group’s tenth year at the Sandcastle, where they’re expecting around 300 visitors this Saturday evening, but there has been a massive social media outcry with concerns that paedophiles my try and come along.
Emma Hadaway from Crewe has now launched an online petition that reads: “I truly believe this is a massive safeguarding issue, children being naked around adults neither their parents or themselves know.
It may be a private event but children should be protected no matter what and should not be allowed at such events. The solution to this would be either to make it an 18s and over only event or to not allow the event to happen full stop.
I have absolutely nothing against naturists and their lifestyle choice except when it comes to the safety of children.”
A Sandcastle spokesperson has said:
All activities within our Waterpark are considered from a safeguarding perspective. The Naturist event (including family naturists) is a private event and no one can walk in off the street without pre-registration.
Any children that might attend on the night are with their parents or guardians, which is part of the safeguarding policies of The British Naturist Society (their safeguarding policy is available on their website).
As with all activities at Sandcastle Waterpark we ensure that there is lifeguard supervision throughout the Waterpark and all areas (except toilets and male and female changing rooms) have comprehensive CCTV coverage, at all times.”
