Police have made one arrest after a man was shot dead at a house in the Scottish North Ayrshire town of Ardrossan.
Police said a gunman opened fire after entering the house in Nithsdale Road, Ardrossan, at about 16:50 on Sunday.
A 42-year-old man died shortly afterwards from his injuries. A 46-year-old woman was also in the house, but was not injured during the attack.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said a 42-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the shooting.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.50 pm on Sunday, 24 May, 2020 a 42-year-old man and 46-year-old woman were within a house in Nithsdale Road, Ardrossan when a man entered the house and discharged what is believed to be a firearm before leaving the house.
“The 42-year-old man was then found with serious injuries and died at the scene a short time later.
“A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.”
