Staunch Brexiteer Rod Liddle of the Spectator magazine has engaged in a heated debate with Newsnight’s infamous pro remain propaganda spreader Emily Maitlis. Rod Liddle pulled no punches as has attacked the BBC over its “betrayal” of Brexit supporters as well as BBC bias overall.
Mr Little was speaking with BBC host Maitlis and Tom Baldwin who campaigns for a so-called peoples vote when he accused them both of betraying leave voters. Mr Liddle stated that he felt that the 17.4 million people who voted Leave are “distressed” at the current position of Brexit.
He also went on the blast the BBC saying: “What they are most distressed about is how the BBC has behaved over the last few years.” Despite this the BBC does still claim impartiality in its coverage of topical issues such as Brexit. Anti- Brexit bias has been levelled at the BBC on many occasions in recent times. The leader of the Brexit Party Nigel Farage has blasted the BBC on several occasions for this.
There are many examples of the BBC promoting Anti-Brexit propaganda. It was reported in The Sun back in February that Radio 4’s Today Programme featured 4,275 guests on its show between 2005 and 2015 who talked about the EU and remarkably only 132 were Brexiteers. This equates to just 3.2% of interviewees being pro Brexit. In addition to this ‘briefings for Brexit’ website have stated that when they analysed 25 Question time panels 22 came back as being pro EU. Many feel so strongly about this so called bias that a website called [www.bbccomplaints.com] has been set up for people to report examples of anti Brexit BBC bias.
Meanwhile both men in the Conservative leadership race have ruled out calling a snap election before Brexit. Boris Johnson went as far as to say that he would “absolutely” rule out a snap election before Brexit was resolved. Adding that “I think the people of this country are utterly fed up with politicians coming back to them offering referendums or elections.”
