The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has been slammed by the Conservative Leader of the London Assembly over his absence during the coronavirus pandemic.
Susan Hall told talkRADIO’s Mike Graham that she was absolutely furious at the London Mayor’s absence during the COVID-19 crisis.
Mr Khan has not attended a London Assembly meeting in over six weeks leading many to ask the question of how he can be held to account if he failed to turn up.
The of Mayor London outlined in a statement given to talkRADIO that he will attend Mayor’s Questions in two weeks’ time.
TalkRADIO host Mike Graham said: “Sadiq Khan is being accused of suspending democracy by City Hall Tories as during the coronavirus pandemic he has refused to meet the London Assembly for over six weeks.
“That is unacceptable.
“We asked Sadiq Khan’s office if he would appear on the show to answer the charges she is making.
“You will not be surprised to know that he has declined our offer.”
Mr Graham then read out a statement from Mr Khan’s office saying he had not been asked to attend.
Mr Graham then asked: “Is it right Susan that you did not ask him?”
Ms Hall replied: “No, I am furious to hear that.
“We have actually said to him that we want an oversight meeting to ask him questions.
“We said whatever time suited him, whatever day suited him, we would do.
“He just didn’t want to.
“I am absolutely furious.”
