Social media storm ERUPTS as John Cleese says London is no longer ENGLISH

World respected Fawlty Towers creator John Cleese, 79, took to Twitter today to speak with his 5.6 million followers and he is now trending across the UK. The prominent Brexit supporter has said:
“Some years ago I opined that London was not really an English city any more.  Since then, virtually all my friends from abroad have confirmed my observation  So there must be some truth in it…  I note also that London was the UK city that voted most strongly to remain in the EU.”
Immediately he was hit with a barrage of criticism being accused of ‘far-right racism’ against Sadiq Khan’s multi-cultural London such as:
Guardian writer James Felton:
Some years ago I said something a bit ignorant and dog-whistly.
I hang out with people who are also a bit ignorant and dog-whistly.
So it must be correct…

Politics Student Luke Roger:
Whilst I’m at it, here’s another example of confirmation bias for you.

Am I the only one that likes the fact that it’s not ‘english’. I feel more proud to be European than English nowadays
However others agreed such as commentator Talisman of Tashkent:
Where Labour are big, the English core is removed, that’s how Labour work, look at all the big cities, not representative of English values anymore.

Mr Cleese had previously insisted he believes Brexit was and will always remain the right decision:

“I’m rather delighted that all these forecasts of doom and destruction have turned out, at this point, not to have been real. I don’t want to be ruled by Brussels bureaucrats who want to create a super state. I was pro-Brexit for that reason. If I had three words to sum up why we had to get out of Europe, they would be: Jean-Claude Juncker.”
